Reading and Understanding MAPP Match™

Each time you match yourself to a job you will receive a Graph, an Overall Job Match Level (1-5), Percent of Match, breakdown of how you match in each of the 9 Worker Trait Groups, and a summary of your Strengths (top trait matches).

Q: The graph is really neat but I need help understanding what it means?

A: The more shaded the graph the better your match to this job. The outer line of the graph represents 100%, or the job itself. The 9 colored wedges represent your match to the job in each of the 9 Worker Trait Groups. For example, if the People (PE) wedge of your graph is all shaded, your motivation toward working with people matches the level of motivation to work with people needed to perform in that job.

Q: How do I interpret the Overall Job Match Level?

A: There are 5 Job Match Levels. Overall Job Match Levels of 1or 2 come closest to matching the motivations revealed by your individual MAPP results. Explore these top matches for jobs and traits that you will enjoy. Levels 3 and 4 indicate that you have some motivations that match the job but are not highly motivated to work in the job. Level 5 matches mean you have little motivation toward the job. It is important to remember that there is no good, bad, right or wrong with MAPP. This is just about your motivations and preferences. You will also see levels 1 through 5 in the full appraisals to indicate your motivation toward each trait, or task.

Q: Is there more information on my match?

A: You can get as little or as much information as you wish. Click on the 9 Worker Trait Groups below the MAPP Match graph to review your match to each of the 9 groups, or each of the 72 traits within the groups. You can also click on your name to view your MAPP results, click on the job title to read the job profile, link to read what O*NET says about the job, and review information from OOH (Occupational Outlook Handbook) pertaining to the job you are matching to. MAPP Match™ is a complete career resource based on your preferences.

Q: There are so many jobs, where do I start?

A: If you are unsure which jobs to begin matching to, use your Top 10 Vocational Areas in your MAPP results as a guide to choosing jobs you will enjoy. Match yourself to jobs that include tasks you enjoy. Review your MAPP results for high motivators (1s and 2s) and look up jobs that include those tasks. For example, if you are highly motivated toward working with data and things, match yourself against a job such as a computer programmer. If you see level 1 motivations under your language section, try matching yourself to a journalist. See how it works?

We hope you will enjoy using MAPP Match™. All the information learned about your motivations and preferences in your personalized results can now be applied at Internet speed.
